For his leadership and valor, Captain Jones was awarded the Legion of Merit, the Purple Heart, the Combat Infantryman Badge, the Korean Service Medal, the United Nations Service Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Korean Distinguished Service Medal, the Korean Presidential Unit Citation and the Republic of Korea War Service Medal.
Notes
Captain Jones was an advisor with the 8202nd Army Unit, 1542nd Korean Military Assistance Group. He was taken Prisoner of War while advising the South Koreans in North Korea on October 18, 1952 and died while a prisoner on May 29, 1951. His remains were not recovered. His name is inscribed on the Courts of the Missing at the Honolulu Memorial.
