The Montfaucon American Monument is currently closed for restoration work

UPDATE: After almost three years of restoration works, the Montfaucon American Monument is reopening to the public who can now access the inside of the monument and climb the 234 steps to get magnificent views of the nearby battlefield.

Please note that the inside of the monument is currently open Monday to Friday from 9 a.m. to 3.30 p.m.

The Montfaucon American Monument is currently closed for restoration work. This project is a comprehensive restoration including: a complete cleaning of the exterior; repainting the engravings inside the monument; repairing the pavement on the terrace; and replacing all landscape features around the monument with new shrubs.

The site will be closed until at least November to accommodate the important restoration work.

The Montfaucon American Monument is one of 31 monuments and memorials taken care of by the American Battle Monuments Commission, honoring the service, achievements, and sacrifice of U.S. Armed Forces across the globe.

Since 1923, ABMC’s sacred mission is to honor the service, achievements, and sacrifice of the more than 200,000 U.S. service members buried and memorialized at 26 cemeteries and 31 monuments, in 17 countries, including four in the United States.
