Commander White was a member of Reconnaissance Heavy Attack Squadron 6, Carrier Air Wing 9 aboard the Aircraft Carrier USS ENTERPRISE (CVAN-65). On March 31, 1969, he was the pilot of a North American Vigilante Fighter (RA-5C) over Laos when it crashed. His remains were recovered on March 11, 1997 and identified on July 9, 1998. His name is inscribed on the Courts of the Missing at the Honolulu Memorial.
