Private Weitz was a member of Battery A, 1st Battalion, 12th Marines, 3rd Marine Division. On May 25, 1969, he was killed while fighting the enemy in Quang Tri, South Vietnam. His remains were not recovered. His name is inscribed on the Courts of the Missing at the Honolulu Memorial.
