Lance Corporal Turner was a member of the Marine Air Support Squadron 3, Marine Air Command Group 18, 1st Marine Air Wing. On November 6, 1968, he was killed while fighting the enemy in a River Patrol Boat in Quang Ngai, South Vietnam. His remains were not recovered. His name is inscribed on the Courts of the Missing at the Honolulu Memorial.
