Lieutenant Trowbridge, U.S. Naval Reserve, was a member of Attack Squadron 35, Carrier Air Wing 15 aboard the Aircraft Carrier USS CORAL SEA (CVA-43). On December 26, 1969, he was bombardier/navigator of a Grumman Attack Aircraft Intruder (A-6A) on a combat support mission. There was an accident about 110 miles offshore in the South China Sea and the aircraft crashed. His remains were not recovered. His name is inscribed on the Courts of the Missing at the Honolulu Memorial.
