Lieutenant Junior Grade Swigart, U.S. Naval Reserve, was a member of Fighter Squadron 24, Carrier Air Wing 21 aboard the Aircraft Carrier USS HANCOCK (CVA-19). On February 5, 1969, he was the pilot of a Vought Crusader Fighter (F-8H) on a non-combat flight offshore about 80 east of Ron, North Vietnam when his aircraft crashed. His remains were not recovered. His name is inscribed on the Courts of the Missing at the Honolulu Memorial.
