Lieutenant Stephenson, U.S. Naval Reserve, was a member of Attack Squadron 93, Carrier Air Wing 2 aboard the Aircraft Carrier USS RANGER (CVA-61). On February 5, 1970, he was the pilot of a Vought Attack Aircraft Corsair II (A-7B) over South Vietnam when his aircraft crashed. His remains were not recovered. His name is inscribed on the Courts of the Missing at the Honolulu Memorial.
