Lieutenant Commander Scott, U.S. Naval Reserve, was a member of Attack Squadron 196, Carrier Air Wing 14 aboard the Aircraft Carrier USS CONSTELLATION (CVA-64). On August 21, 1967, he was the bombardier/navigator of a Grumman Attack Aircraft Intruder (A-6A) on a mission to strike the Duc Noi rail yard four miles north of Hanoi. After the strike his aircraft took a northern egress route over China and was shot down by a surface to air missile. His remains were not recovered. His name is inscribed on the Courts of the Missing at the Honolulu Memorial.
