Major Rogers was a member of the 1st Air Commando Squadron at Pleiku, South Vietnam. On May 4, 1967, he was the pilot of a Douglas Skyraider Attack Aircraft (A1-E) on an ordnance delivery mission and was about 10 miles south of Attopeu, Laos when it was hit by hostile fire, crashed and exploded. His remains were not recovered. His name is inscribed on the Courts of the Missing at the Honolulu Memorial.
