Staff Sergeant Rios was a member of 15th Aerial Port Squadron. On March 6, 1968, he was a passenger in a Fairchild Provider Cargo Aircraft (C-123K) to deliver parts to Khe San, South Vietnam. Near Khe San his aircraft was hit by hostile fire and crashed. His remains were not recovered. His name is inscribed on the Courts of the Missing at the Honolulu Memorial.
