Lance Corporal Prewitt was a member of SU-4, Headquarters Battalion, 3rd Marine Division. On August 1, 1967, he was killed while fighting the enemy by small arms fire at Thua Thien, South Vietnam. His remains were not recovered. His name is inscribed on the Courts of the Missing at the Honolulu Memorial.
