Lieutenant Colonel Perrine was a member of 497th Tactical Fighter Squadron, Ubon Airfield, Thailand. On May 22, 1967, he was the pilot of a McDonnell Douglas Phantom II Fighter (F-4C) on a mission near Nam Dinh, North Vietnam when his aircraft was struck by enemy fire and crashed. His remains were recovered on July 25, 2007 and identified on December 7, 2009. His name is inscribed on the Courts of the Missing at the Honolulu Memorial.
