Private First Class Pearce was a medic with the Medical Company, 24th Infantry Regiment, 25th Infantry Division. He was listed as Missing in Action while tending his wounded comrades near the Hantan River in North Korea on April 21, 1951. He was presumed dead on December 31, 1953. His remains were recovered on May 24, 1956 and identified on July 14, 2011. His name is permanently inscribed on the Courts of the Missing at the Honolulu Memorial.
