Private First Class Osborne was a member of Headquarters and Service Company, Battalion Landing Team, 1st Battalion, 3rd Marines, 9th Marine Amphibious Brigade. On April 27, 1967, he was a passenger in a Sikorsky Seahorse Utility Helicopter (UH-34D) when it crashed into the sea offshore South Vietnam. His remains were not recovered. His name is inscribed on the Courts of the Missing at the Honolulu Memorial.
