Lance Corporal Nahan was a member of Company A, 3rd Reconnaissance Battalion, 3rd Marine Division. On August 3, 1967, he was a passenger in a Boeing Sea Knight Cargo Helicopter (CH-46A) being extracted from a site in the A Shau Valley in South Vietnam, when his aircraft was hit by a bazooka shell killing all on board. His remains were recovered on June 8, 1994 and identified on July 10, 2001. His name is inscribed on the Courts of the Missing at the Honolulu Memorial.
