Lieutenant Colonel Morrissey was a member of the 428th Tactical Fighter Squadron, 474th Tactical Fighter Wing, Takhli Air Base, Thailand. On November 7, 1972, he was the weapons systems officer of a General Dynamics Aardvark Fighter (F-111A) on a mission near Ban Phaphilang, Khammouane Province. Laos, where radio contact was lost. His remains were not recovered. His name is inscribed on the Courts of the Missing at the Honolulu Memorial.
