For his leadership and valor, Major Morand was awarded the Silver Star with Oak Leaf Cluster, Air Medal, the Purple Heart, the Combat Infantryman Badge, the Korean Service Medal, the United Nations Service Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Korean Presidential Unit Citation, the Republic of Korea War Service Medal and the World War II Victory Medal.
Notes
Major Morand was a decorated veteran of World War II. In Korea, he was a member of Headquarters Company, 89th Medium Tank Battalion, 25th Infantry Division. While supporting the 24th Infantry Division, he was listed as Missing in Action on November 27, 1950. Later it was determined he had been killed while fighting the enemy in North Korea. His remains were not recovered. His name is inscribed on the Courts of the Missing at the Honolulu Memorial.
