First Lieutenant McLain was awarded the Korean Service Medal, the United Nations Service Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Korean Presidential Unit Citation and the Republic of Korea War Service Medal.
Notes
First Lieutenant McLain was a crew member of a B-29A Superfortress Bomber with the 370th Bomber Squadron, 307th Bomber Wing. On December 4, 1951, while departing on a combat mission, one engine quit after takeoff and the aircraft crashed five miles east of Kadena Air Base, Okinawa, killing nine crew members.
