Lieutenant Junior Grade McKinley, U.S. Naval Reserve, was a member of Attack Squadron 215, Carrier Air Wing 21 aboard the Aircraft Carrier USS HANCOCK (CVA-19). On March 31, 1965, he was the pilot of a Douglas Attack Skyraider (A-1H) on a bombing mission over Quang Binh Province, North Vietnam. As the aircraft was making it's last pass at the target, it was hit by anti-aircraft fire and crashed. His remains were not recovered. His name is inscribed on the Courts of the Missing at the Honolulu Memorial.
