1st Lt. Robert L. McIntosh was initially reported Missing in Action on May 12, 1944. He was later assigned an Administrative Date of Death on Nov. 7, 1945. In 2015, the Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency (DPAA) excavated a crash site in Italy and recovered a set of human remains that would be later identified as McIntosh. In 2016, His remains were repatriated to Indiana for burial. His name is permanently engraved on the walls of the missing at Sicily-Rome American Cemetery, Nettuno, Italy.
