USMA Class of 1949, Second Lieutenant Marshburn was a member of Company A, 1st Battalion, 32nd Infantry Regiment, 7th Infantry Division. Although initially listed as Missing in Action, it was determined the he was Killed in Action near the Chosin Reservoir, North Korea on December 3, 1950 while conducting a delaying action. His remains were not recovered. His name is inscribed on the Courts of the Missing at the Honolulu Memorial.
