Airman First Class Lewis was a member of the 36 Motor Vehicle Squadron at Wiesbaden, Germany. On November 13, 1951, he was a passenger on a C-82 transport en route from Rhine Main to Bordeaux, France when it crashed on Mt. Dore, near Bordeaux, killing all 36 on board.
