Captain Lee was a member of the 480th Tactical Fighter Squadron, Phu Cat Air Base, South Vietnam. On May 27, 1970, he was the pilot of a McDonnell Douglas Phantom II Fighter (F-4D) on an operational mission 10 miles east of Chbar, Mondol Kiri Province, Cambodia. As it made a pass at its target it was struck by hostile fire, lost its right wing and crashed. His remains were recovered on December 13, 1993 and identified on May 11, 1994. His name is inscribed on the Courts of the Missing at the Honolulu Memorial.
