Lt. Richard C. Lannom, U.S. Naval Reserve, was a member of Attack Squadron 35, Carrier Air Wing 9 aboard the Aircraft Carrier USS ENTERPRISE (CVAN-65). On March 1, 1968, he was the bombardier/navigator of a Grumman Attack Aircraft Intruder (A-6A) about 45 miles northeast of Hanoi, North Vietnam when his aircraft was shot down. His remains were not recovered at the time. Through the work of the Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency, the remains of Lt. Richard C. Lannom were accounted for in 2018. His name is permanently inscribed in the “Courts of the Missing” at the Honolulu Memorial.
