Sergeant First Class Housh was a member of Company B, 228th Aviation Battalion (Assault Helicopter), 11th Aviation Group, 1st Cavalry Division (Airborne). On April 19, 1968, he was the flight engineer of a Boeing Chinook Cargo Handling Helicopter (CH-47A) making supply runs to "Landing Zone Tiger" in A Shau Valley, Quang Tri Province, South Vietnam when it received ground fire and crashed. His remains were not recovered. His name is inscribed on the Courts of the Missing at the Honolulu Memorial.
