Ensign Hollingsworth, U.S. Naval Reserve, was a member of Reconnaissance Heavy Attack Squadron 9, Carrier Air Wing 14 aboard the Aircraft Carrier USS RANGER (CVA-61). On January 16, 1966, he was the co-pilot of a North American Vigilante Fighter (RA-5C) about 100 miles southeast of Saigon in the South China Sea, when he had mechanical difficulties and crashed. His remains were not recovered. His name is inscribed on the Courts of the Missing at the Honolulu Memorial.
