Lance Corporal Hill was a member of the Marine Medium Helicopter Squadron 262, Marine Air Group 39, 1st Marine Air Wing. On May 28, 1968, he was on a foot patrol near the Song Buong River, Quang Nam Province, South Vietnam when his unit came under attack. He was killed from fragment wounds from an enemy grenade. His remains were not recovered. His name is inscribed on the Courts of the Missing at the Honolulu Memorial.
