For his leadership and great valor, Captain Henry was awarded the Medal of Honor, the Bronze Star with Oak Leaf Cluster, the Purple Heart with Oak Leaf Cluster, the Combat Infantryman Badge, the Korean Service Medal, the United Nations Service Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Korean Presidential Unit Citation, the Republic of Korea War Service Medal and the World War II Victory Medal. In honor of his heroic actions, The garrison south of Taegu was named Camp Henry.
Notes
Captain Henry was a veteran of World War II. In Korea, he commanded Company F, 2nd Battalion, 38th Infantry Regiment, 2nd Infantry Division. On September 1, 1950 near Am-Dong, South Korea, he singlehandedly held off the enemy to permit his platoon to withdraw to safety. He was listed as Missing in Action and presumed dead on December 31, 1953. His remains were not recovered. His name is inscribed on the Courts of the Missing at the Honolulu Memorial.
