Ensign Graves, U.S. Naval Reserve, was a member of Attack Squadron 215, Carrier Air Wing 21 aboard the aircraft carrier USS BON HOMME RICHARD (CVA-31). On May 25, 1967, he was the pilot of a Douglas Attack Skyraider (A-1H) on an armed reconnaissance mission over North Vietnam. After he fire his rocket at a small cargo boat, the left wing dipped and hit the water. the aircraft exploded on impact and burst into flames. His remains were not recovered. His name is inscribed on the Courts of the Missing at the Honolulu Memorial.
