Lieutenant Fryer, U.S. Naval Reserve, was a member of Attack Squadron 152, Carrier Air Wing 16 aboard the Aircraft Carrier USS ORISKANY (CVA-34). On August 7, 1966, he was the pilot of a Douglas Attack Skyraider (A-1H) over Nghe An Province, North Vietnam when his aircraft crashed barely over water. His remains were not recovered. His name is inscribed on the Courts of the Missing at the Honolulu Memorial.
