Airman First Class Evans was a member of the 620th Air Control and Tactical Warning Squadron, U.S. Air Force. On July 19, 1950, while on the ground directing air strikes, his unit had to withdraw. He and another airman became separated and he was listed as Missing in Action. He was presumed dead on December 31, 1953.
