Lance Corporal Escobedo was a member of the Marine Heavy Helicopter Squadron 361, Marine Attack Group 16, 1st Marine Air Wing. On September 1, 1969, he was a crew member of a Sikorsky Sea Stallion Cargo Helicopter (CH-53A) over Thua Thien, South Vietnam, when the aircraft crashed. His remains were not recovered. His name is inscribed on the Courts of the Missing at the Honolulu Memorial.
