Lieutenant Commander Dunn, U.S. Naval Reserve, was a member of Attack Squadron 25, Carrier Air Wing 15 aboard the Aircraft Carrier USS CORAL SEA (CVA-43) in the Gulf of Tonkin. On February 14, 1968, he was the pilot of a Douglas Attack Skyraider (A-1H) that flew from Cubi Point Naval Air Station, Philippine to the CORAL SEA. He drifted north off the east coast of Hainan Island, China, where he was met and shot down by a MiG 17 aircraft. His remains were not recovered. His name is inscribed on the Courts of the Missing at the Honolulu Memorial.
