Staff Sergeant Dix was a member of 128th Aviation Company. On March 17, 1971, he was flying in a Bell Iroquois Utility Helicopter (UH-1H) near Snuol, Cambodia when the aircraft was shot down. He was listed as Missing in Action. His remains were not recovered. His name is inscribed on the Courts of the Missing at the Honolulu Memorial.
