Specialist, Fourth Class Demsey was a member of Company A, 101st Aviation Battalion, 101st Airborne Division. On February 18, 1971, he was crew chief of a Bell Iroquois Utility Helicopter (UH-1H) on an emergency patrol extraction from the west side of A Shau Valley in Thua Tin Province, South Vietnam when his aircraft was hit by enemy anti-aircraft fire, crashed and burned. His remains were not recovered. His name is inscribed on the Courts of the Missing at the Honolulu Memorial.
