Corporal Collins was a member of Company G, 2nd Battalion, 7th Marines, 1st Marine Division. On December 4, 1967, he drowned while fighting the enemy in Thua Thien, South Vietnam. His remains were not recovered. His name is inscribed on the Courts of the Missing at the Honolulu Memorial.
