Lieutenant Junior Grade Christian, U.S. Naval Reserve, was a member of Attack Squadron 23, Carrier Air Wing 2 aboard the Aircraft Carrier USS MIDWAY (CVA-41). On June 2, 1965, he was the pilot of a Douglas Attack Aircraft Skyhawk (A-4E) on shoreline reconnaissance over the Tonkin Gulf, when his aircraft crashed. His remains were recovered on April 10, 1986 and identified on April 20, 1987. His name is inscribed on the Courts of the Missing at the Honolulu Memorial.
