Lieutenant Commander Charvet, U.S. Naval Reserve, was a member of Attack Squadron 215, Carrier Air Division 21 aboard the Aircraft Carrier USS BON HOMME RICHARD (CVA-31). On March 21, 1967, he was the pilot of a Douglas Attack Skyraider (A-1H) over North Vietnam when his aircraft crashed. His remains were not recovered.

Through the work of the Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency, the remains of Lieutenant Commander Paul Claude Charvet were accounted for in 2021. His name is permanently inscribed on the “Courts of the Missing” at the Honolulu Memorial
