For his leadership and valor, Sergeant First Class Casey was awarded the Silver Star, the Bronze Star with Oak Leaf Cluster, the Purple Heart with Oak Leaf Cluster, the Combat Infantryman Badge, the Korean Service Medal, the United Nations Service Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Korean Presidential Unit Citation and the Republic of Korea War Service Medal.

Sergeant First Class Casey was a member of Company A, 1st Battalion, 32nd Infantry Regiment, 7th Infantry Division. He was Killed in Action while fighting the enemy in North Korea on November 28, 1950. His remains were recovered on November 3, 2003 and identified on July 1, 2004. His name is inscribed on the Courts of the Missing at the Honolulu Memorial.
