Notes
First Lieutenant Burd was a member of the 421st Tactical Fighter Squadron. On August 1, 1969, he was the bombardier/navigator of a McDonnell Douglas Phantom II Fighter (F-4E) on a mission 25 miles southwest of Quang Nghai, Quang Nghai Province, South Vietnam, when the aircraft was shot down. His remains were not recovered. His name is inscribed on the Courts of the Missing at the Honolulu Memorial.
