For his leadership and valor, Captain Brown was awarded the Navy Cross with Gold Star, the Distinguished Flying Cross with Gold Star, the Air Medal with 6 Gold Stars, the Purple Heart, the Combat Action Ribbon, the Korean Service Medal, the United Nations Service Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Korean Presidential Unit Citation, the Republic of Korea War Service Medal and the World War II Victory Medal.
Notes
Captain Brown was a veteran of World War II. In Korea, he was the pilot of a F4U-4B Corsair fighter with Headquarters Squadron, 12th Marine Air Group. On February 24, 1952, while on a combat mission of strafing enemy positions, his aircraft received a direct hit by anti-aircraft fire and crashed into the target area. His remains were not recovered. His name is inscribed on the Courts of the Missing at the Honolulu Memorial.
