Captain Bessor was a member of 219th Aviation Company, 17th Aviation Group, 1st Aviation Brigade. On May 13, 1969, he was the pilot of a Cessna Bird Dog Observation Aircraft (O-1G) on a radio relay with Special Forces reconnaissance team in the area of the South Vietnam/Laos border. The aircraft was hit by ground fire and crashed in Laos. His remains were not recovered. His name is inscribed on the Courts of the Missing at the Honolulu Memorial.
