Notes
Colonel Balcom was a member of the 421st Tactical Fighter Squadron. On May 15, 1966, he was the pilot of a Thunderchief Fighter (F-105D) on a mission 20 miles north of the Demilitarized Zone in Quang Binh Province, North Vietnam when his aircraft was shot down. He parachuted to the ground and contact was lost. His remains were not recovered. His name is inscribed on the Courts of the Missing at the Honolulu Memorial.
