Major Baker was a member of the 8th Bomber Squadron at Bien Hoa Air Base, South Vietnam. On April 7, 1965, he was a member of the crew of a Martin Canberra Bomber (B-57B) on an interdiction mission over Xieng Khouang Province, Laos, when radio contact was lost. His remains were recovered on February 24, 2003 and identified on May 20, 2005. His name is inscribed on the Courts of the Missing at the Honolulu Memorial.
