Aviation Electronics Radar Technician, Third Class Amspacher, United States Naval Reserve, was a member of the Early Warning Squadron 13 "Zappers", Carrier Air Wing 62 aboard the USS MIDWAY (CVB-41). On June 2, 1965, he was the electronic countermeasures operator of a Douglas Electronic Surveillance Skyraider (EA-1F) on a search and rescue mission over the Gulf of Tonkin off North Vietnam. His aircraft was hit by enemy fire, crashed on land and burned. His remains were recovered on July 13, 1988 and identified on November 14, 1988. His name is inscribed on the Courts of the Missing at the Honolulu Memorial.
