Lamont Ames was born in New York City in 1850. He moved to the Canal Zone where he worked in the Construction and Engineering Department, Atlantic Division, Isthmus Canal Commission. He died on July 18, 1910. He was buried at the Mt. Hope Cemetery then reinterred at the Corozal American Cemetery in 1979.
