Staff Sergeant Acosta-Rosario was a machine gunner with B Company, 1st Battalion, 5th Infantry, 25 Infantry Division. On August 22, 1968, he was on reconnaissance near the Ben Cui rubber plantation, Tay Ninh Province, South Korea. When his unit came under fire he was listed as Missing in Action. His remains were not recovered. His name is inscribed on the Courts of the Missing at the Honolulu Memorial.
