The American Battle Monuments Commission will commemorate the 80th anniversary of the Liberation of Manila at Manila American Cemetery in the Philippines, on Feb. 22, at 4 p.m. (local time).
The event will be attended by U.S. representatives and dignitaries from the Philippines. U.S. and Filipino World War II veterans are also expected.

To allow for ceremony preparations the cemetery will be closed the morning of Feb. 22 and will open to the public at 12 p.m. for the attendees' arrival. Please monitor our cemetery alert for any last-minute updates.
The liberation of Manila in 1945 was a symbolic turning point in World War II. It reclaimed the heart of the Philippines and re-established the capital of the democratically elected Philippine Commonwealth government.
