Lieutenant Junior Grade Stuart was the co-pilot of a rescue patrol bomber stationed at the Coast Guard Air Detachment, Sangley Point, Philippines. On January 18, 1953, after rescuing survivors from a Naval P2V Neptune patrol aircraft off Swatow, China, his aircraft crashed on takeoff. He was listed as Missing in Action and was presumed dead on September 15, 1955. |
